10 Personal Must-Have Items You Need At Work

As employees who have a regular 9 to 5 (or 9 to 9) jobs, we spend most of our waking hours at work. This is why we need some specific tools to help us make our day run smoothly.

 

Here are some things we advise you to keep handy for a smooth time in the office.

 

1. A water dispenser or bottle

 

At the office, you will most definitely be thirsty at one point or the other. You do not want a situation whereby you are dehydrated and have nowhere to get water to drink.

 

A portable water bottle or a water dispenser stationed in the office is sure to come in handy. With a water bottle, all you need to do is fill up your bottle from home before you get to work. You won’t have the problem of feeling dehydrated and having nothing to quench your thirst.

 

2. A portable phone charger and a power bank

 

 

Imagine getting to work and you see your battery is about to die. Then you realise you have a business meeting and all the details are on your phone. Also, no one else uses your type of charger in the office and you left your charger at home. Depressing right? I know

 

Always make an effort to remember to carry your charger along and, if possible, a power bank in case of a power outage. A power bank can also be helpful if you want to be moving about and you need your phone to be charging. Furthermore, you can leave an extra charger in your office in case you accidentally leave yours at home.

 

3. A pen

 

This might sound obvious but it is a major thing we always forget. You get to the office and start rummaging through your bag in search of a pen to write something with, but you don’t find one. It can be really annoying, especially when you need to write something important.

4. Sewing kit

 

Ever gone to the office and, while working, hear a tear in your dress or trousers? That can be very disheartening and embarrassing. How about having a kit of needles and threads in your office to sew your clothes in such situations. You can even add office pins to help hold your clothes in place on your body in case it begins to move awkwardly. Also, add razors or scissors for cutting stuff.

 

5. Tissue paper

 

It can be very annoying going to the office restroom and finding out there is not tissue to clean up after you use the bathroom. Always remember to put some tissue paper in your bag before leaving your house for work.

 

6. An office sweater

Do you work in an office with a powerful AC or cooling system? Then you probably know how cold the office can get. You want to slay to the office looking cute or handsome but then you have to rethink how cold it might get. How about dressing how you want and carrying a sweater for the cold. You can also just drop the sweater in the office and not worry about the extra load when you’re going to the office.

 

7. A few snacks

 

You need to snack up, just in case you have to work a bit later than your lunchtime. You’ll probably be extremely hungry if you do, hence you need some snacks to help hold your stomach. Snacks are also useful if you have to work late into the evening; they will help relieve hunger until you get home.

 

Snacks are also great when you feel like you’re dozing off at work and you need something to keep you awake.

 

8. Hand sanitiser

 

This is useful in case the handwash in the office toilet finishes. You don’t want to go around carrying germs on your hands after using the toilet. The roads you take to and from work most definitely have germs flying around in the air. You need sanitisers to prevent you from catching some of these airborne diseases.

 

9. Cash

Never forget to come to work with extra cash. You could have emergencies at work or see something you want to buy but then realize you don’t have enough cash with you. It is advisable to carry extra cash with you. You never know what can occur while you are at work.

 

10. Stain removal wipes

 

You need this in the office in case of stains on the office table or on your dress. Imagine you’re at work, coffee spills on your dress and you have a meeting in 10 minutes. You would most definitely need wipes to clean that off.
