The National Emergency Management Agency has received more Nigerian migrants initially stranded in Libya. Confirmed reports say that the migrants, numbering 163, arrived around 8:33 p.m. on Thursday.

Alhaji Idris Muhammed, Coordinator, Lagos Territorial Region, NEMA, confirmed their return to journalists on Friday, 12th July 2019, in Lagos. He said they arrived at the cargo wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport. They came aboard a chartered Al Buraq Air aircraft with registration number 5A-DMG.

According to him, the International Organisation for Migration and the European Union under the Assisted Voluntary Returnees Programme assisted the Nigerian migrants back to Nigeria.

“After profiling of the returnees, there were 64 adult females, four female children and seven female infants as well as 75 adult males, three male children and 10 male infants,” Muhammed stated.

He added that youths should desist from embarking on perilous journeys. They could expose them to avoidable risks in search of greener pastures.

NAN reports that he also promised the returnees that the Federal Government, NEMA, and other agencies, as well as development partners, would continue to work together to create an enabling environment for young Nigerians.

Operatives of the EFCC (the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) Ibadan zonal office apprehended 27 suspected yahoo boys on Thursday, 20th June 2019, in Osogbo, Osun State. Among the suspects were four ladies, presumably their girlfriends.

The EFCC‘s acting head of Media and Publicity, Tony Orilade, said in a statement that they were working on a series of intelligence gathered on the activities of suspected ‘Yahoo Boys’ in locations across the city.
