2007 — The former Governor of Lagos State and leader of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, docks before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, sitting in Abuja. This is based on allegations that he operated 10 foreign accounts while in office between 1999 and 2007.
2008 — Members of a white-collar union working for Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN) begin an indefinite strike over pay and working conditions. MPN is an affiliate of US oil group Exxon Mobil.
2008 — MEND (Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta) fighters sabotage a Royal Dutch Shell oil pipeline in southern Rivers State.
