“I know I am fat, and I’m proud of it.”
These were apparently the young, South African lady’s last words before she got shot in the face. The brutal incident occurred on Tuesday, 30th April 2019, in Tshepisong, near Mogale City.
In an attempt to defend her weight from three thugs, they killed the 27-year-old woman. The young lady, identified as Lindi Qhoma, was allegedly shot for being fat.
Her sister, Bulelwa Qhoma (28), told Daily Sun that she had always been mocked for being fat. She also revealed that Lindi had been mocked about her weight by three thugs before one of them shot her in the face.
The incident started after Lindi and her mum Mpondo Qhoma had bought groceries. Then they attempted to get to their home in Slovoville from Tshepisong. After getting into the cab, they were shocked at the reception. Three men proceeded to mock and insult Lindi that she was taking too much space.
Bulelwa reports to Daily Sun that her sister attempted to defend herself. She said she didn’t see anything wrong in being fat.
“Lindi told the men she was aware of her looks and didn’t see anything wrong with being fat,” said Bulelwa. “Then the men got angry and pulled out their guns.”
She also explained how the driver tried to apologise on Lindi’s behalf. “But that’s when the man sitting in front pulled out his gun and shot at her,” she said.
In addition, she explained how “the first bullet missed her. The second hit her in the face. She died on the way to the hospital.”
Bulelwa revealed that her mother had collapsed after the incident and was taken to the hospital. The late Lindi is survived by a son (9) and a daughter (7).
Constable Mzwakhe Xazi told Daily Sun:
“Dobsonville police have launched a manhunt for the three suspects following an incident where a 28-year-old woman was shot in the head.”
