September 4 is a very important day for the Beyhive and everyone knows why. It’s Bey Day and our favourite Virgo queen just turned 38!

Beyonce is undoubtedly one of the most influential pop culture figures of our generation. If you are a fan or stan of Beyonce (who isn’t?), here are a couple of ways you can celebrate with Queen Bey!
1. Wear something sparkly
In case you didn’t know, Beyonce has an insect named after her. The Australian horsefly is named after Beyonce because it has a sparkly golden little booty! So, for Bey Day, be like the horsefly and put something shiny over your booty! Anything gold, glittery, bedazzled or sequined will do. Just make sure to glow!
2. Bounce your b*tt while you walk
In addition to adding the word ‘bootylicious’ to the English dictionary, Beyonce continually references her fat a** twisting while she walks in her 2016 song “Don’t Hurt Yourself”. You can embody the Queen by twisting your a** (fat or skinny) at all your haters.
3. Sing and dance your heart out
Beyonce has cemented her place at the top with classy presentation and intricately-planned performances. But her first and most primal talent is singing. Beyonce has been singing her heart out since she was a child. For Bey Day, you should do so too. Plug in your headphones, sing and dance your heart out to your favourite Beyonce songs!
4. Stand up for someone
Beyonce is a well-known representative of her race and her gender. She has advocated for racial and gender equality and infused her causes and culture into her music. Beyonce is not afraid to lend her voice to issues she is immune to and neither should you. Stand up for someone who cannot stand up for themselves and do some good in the world today.
5. Stream B’Day
On this day in 2006, Beyonce dropped an album to celebrate her 25th birthday. That album was B’Day. It consists of generation-defining hit tracks like “Irreplaceable“, “Deja Vu“, and “Ring the Alarm“. Give it another listen and be intrigued at how far Beyonce has come in her career. Or better yet, stream her entire discography!
6. Watch “Homecoming”
In April 2019, Beyonce released a Netflix documentary of her journey to Beychella and a cumulation of her performances. This “Homecoming” documentary lets you know how much hard work, effort, discipline and work ethic goes into being Beyonce. You can see her push herself and her team to produce the best quality performance worthy of an artist of her calibre. It is truly awe-inspiring, humbling and entertaining.
7. Affirm yourself and others
One notable Beyonce did for her last birthday was to make a list of the achievements that she was proud of. Many of us do not count our achievements as much as we count our flaws. We are usually more unforgiving of ourselves than we are of other people, and that is wrong. So in the spirit of Bey Day, affirm yourself and count all the things you love and proud of about yourself.
And while doing all this, remember that if you push yourself to the limits, you will find that you are capable of a lot more than you know. It worked for a little girl from Houston, Texas, and it could work for you. Happy Bey Day everyone!
