Microsoft, yesterday released windows 11. The next version of its operating system for PC(Personal computers), a free upgrade from Windows 10.

 

 

The unveiling of the operating system was handled mainly by Microsoft’s Chief Product Officer Panos at a virtual event.

 

 

After many Windows rumors, we can confirm that the “Start” button is at the bottom-center of the screen instead of the left-hand side. But that can be customizable.

 

 

Also, widgets are now available, for personalized updates from various applications. Microsoft announced that app developers will be able to access an early preview of the new system next week.

 

 

Remember the android apps leaks in the new Windows Store, Microsoft also announced Windows 11 will support Andriod Applications.

 

 

The minimum system requirements for Windows 11 are 64 gigabytes and 4 gigabytes of RAM. A jump from 16 gigabytes and 1 gigabyte for windows 10. But there is a catch, the new operating system only supports eighth generation and newer Inter Core processors.

 

Microsoft announced that Windows 11 will require TPM (Trusted Platform Module) chips to run efficiently. It is available in most newer personal computers and in rare existing computers.

 

 

TPM is a security feature that encrypts and keeps user’s data safe and in its minimum system requirements for windows 11, there is a mention that TPM 2.0 is required at a minimum.

Even some of Microsoft’s Surface devices do not meet the minimum requirements, its Surface Pro 3 tablets, Surface Hubs, the Surface studio are not eligible for the upgrade.

 

 

Out of the 25 Surface devices Microsoft has Sold to date, only 13 will be eligible for windows 11. Technically, any Surface device sold before 2017 has a slim chance to be eligible for the Windows 11 upgrade.

 

Windows 10 will go out of support and into “retirement” in 2025 as reported by Microsoft. If you have plans to upgrade to Windows 11, you will have to splash the cash for a newer PC.
