Texas Jury: Apple Must Pay $300 Million In Royalties After Patent Dispute

A Texas jury has ruled that Apple must pay $300 million to Optis, in royalties after patent disputes. Reuter reported that the jury instructed Apple to pay Optis Wireless Technology and some other companies in the case.

This is regarding some of the technologies, Apple used for its products such as iPads, iPhones, and watches which infringed Optis internal patents. This is the second trial against Apple concerning this patent.

These infringed technology patents are the 4G/LTE in its products, an initial $506 million in the first trial. But Apple appealed the action, hence the second trial.

The patents originally belonged to Panasonic, Samsung, and LG. Totaling five in number, Optis Wireless Technology now owns those patents.
