This new Huawei P30 Pro phone might be around N300,000 (if you get a great deal), but here is why. Owning this phone could easily kick off your photography career. It is that simple. This new device has revolutionised mobile phone photography. It’s like having a super smart DSLR camera.
The Huawei P30 can zoom in like a Digital SLR and will get you a great photo in the dimmest lighting. In fact, you will not need a tripod or all the expertise of a professional to get in a high-resolution photograph. Many people have referred to it as the best camera phone. It has exceeded a lot of expectations.
Even though this phone is not Huawei’s flagship device, experts have certified that it is, in fact, the better phone in every regard. The phone has the Huawei Kirin 980 chip, 6 or 8 GB RAM, and 128, 256 or 512 GB storage. It also has a massive battery of 4,200 mAh with super-fast charging, wireless charging and reverses wireless charging. It runs Android 9 Pie and Huawei’s latest EMUI 9.1 software.
The phone has a massive 6.47-inch OLED screen which doubles as a close-proximity speaker. It has an in-display fingerprint scanner, water and dust resistance, and a face recognition system. The screen resolution is 2,340 x 1,080 with a pixel density of 398 PPI. This means the screen is very sharp, although not as sharp as the flagship Huawei Mate 20 Pro or the Samsung Galaxy S10plus XS Max.
The P30 Pro does not have a stereo speaker, USB-C to 3.55mm connector dongle, a headphone jack or a front-facing 3D depth sensor. But these features have nothing on the ones that it has. It is also not available in the United States, owing to the trade war between Huawei and the US government.
The Camera
The Huawei P30 Pro has a revolutionary amazing quad-camera with a 32-megapixel selfie camera on the front. The back camera has:
- 40-megapixel wide-angle camera with f/1.6 aperture and optical image stabilisation
- 20-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture
- 8-megapixel telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom
- f/3.4 aperture and optical image stabilisation with a “time of flight” depth sensor
The camera was designed to make great pictures even in the worst lighting conditions. It has a default AI-enhanced 10-megapixel photo. It automatically chooses your settings based on your location.
The zoom on this device is out of this world. The 5x optical zoom gives you varying degrees of zoom between 1x and 5x. Huawei is using hi-tech software to combine information from the main camera and the telephoto lens. The 5x Zoom comes highly recommended as you can always zoom in upon taking the photo. It is harder to take a nice still image using the 10x zoom. However, that takes great photos too.
Now, you can continue zooming up to 50x. It can work like binoculars just fine. Perfect for spying on people miles away. You can see way beyond your n***d eyes. It can also un-zoom to the 20-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. The best part about the camera is its ability to capture images in very low light. It will take a decent picture under very poorly lit or dark conditions. This is owing to Huawei’s RYYB Super Spectrum Sensor.
The Huawei P30 Pro has a Super Macro mode, panorama mode, time-lapse mode and an underwater mode. Videos on the P30 pro take up to 4k (30 frames per second) resolution. It can also take slow-motion videos of 960 frames-per-second. You can also zoom up to 10x while shooting videos in 1080p mode. This means that you can shoot a film with it.
Battery
The battery life is like magic. With a full charge, the Huawei P30 Pro will go on two days of heavy usage and still have about 48 per cent battery charge in it. The battery can run for five days without charge. Yes! Five days. It’s worth every penny.
The phone comes with a Huawei super-fast charger that will give a 70 per cent charge in 30 minutes. It also works in a “power saving” mode by default.
