No New Album Till Further Notice Says Burna Boy

Afrofusion artiste Burna Boy may be breaking some hearts with his new announcement.Grammy Award-Winning Star Burna Boy Hints At A New Album

The Grammy-award-winning artist took to his Instagram stories on September 18th 2021 to share that he would not be releasing an album anytime soon.

“I might decide not to drop an album for a long time. In fact, you know what, no album till further notice,” he wrote.

If he follows through, this will be the artist’s first year since 2017 without an album release.

Burna Boy had teased earlier this year in April that he’d likely release an album in April, the same month he released “Twice As Tall” in 2020.

It seems like that may not be happening after all.

Burna Boy rose to prominence in 2012 after releasing “Like to Party”, the lead single from his debut album “L.I.F.E”. In 2017, he signed with Bad Habit/Atlantic Records in the US and Warner Music Group internationally.

His third studio album, “Outside”, marked his major-label debut. In 2019, he won ‘Best International Act’ at the BET Awards and emerged as Apple Music’s Up Next artist. His fourth album “African Giant” came in July 2019.

The project won “Album of the Year” at the 2019 All Africa Music Awards and a nod for ‘Best World Music Album’ at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards in 2020. He emerged the ‘African Artiste of the Year’ at the 2020 VGMAs.

In 2021, his “Twice as Tall” album got a nod at the 63rd Grammys, making him the first Nigerian with back-to-back Grammy nominations. At the award ceremony in March, he won his first-ever Grammy award.
