There’s an ongoing heated debate on whether you should feed your wedding photographer and other vendors at your wedding. Like most social media conversations, it was sparked off by someone sharing their story, this one from a wedding photographer who deleted all the wedding photos she’d taken and stalked off after she was neither fed nor allowed to take a break.
The story was shared by a Reddit user on the platform’s AITA [Am I The A**hole] thread. There, the OP [original poster] explained that she was not actually a photographer, but a dog groomer. However, she was asked by the groom (who’s her friend of a sort) to cover the wedding because the couple was on a tight budget.
They assured her they didn’t mind if the photos weren’t so great as they were really looking to save cost on a professional photographer.
“They were on a shoestring budget and I agreed to shoot it for $250, which is nothing for a 10-hour event,” the dog groomer explained.
The wedding day came and the dog groomer cum photographer followed the bride to several locations to capture her in her glory. Then they headed for the reception where she continued taking several shots of the couple and covering the entire wedding.
However, the time came for lunch/dinner but she wasn’t saved a place at the table. Rather, she was asked to continue taking photos.
“I started around 11am and was due to finish around 7.30pm. Around 5pm, food is being served and I was told I cannot stop to eat because I need to be photographer; in fact, they didn’t save me a spot at any table. I’m getting tired and at this point kinda regretting doing this for next to nothing. It’s also unbelievably hot. The venue is in an old veteran’s legion and it’s like 110F and there’s no AC,” she wrote.

At this point, she informed the groom she needed to take a 20-minute break to get a drink, find food and fill her water bottles which were both empty. But the groom told her she must continue shooting or “leave without pay”.
“With the heat, being hungry, being generally annoyed at the circumstances, I asked if he was sure, and he said yes, so I deleted all the photos I took in front of him,” the Reddit user continued.
She said told the groom she was“not his photographer anymore”, and left the wedding.
She added: “If I was to be paid $250, honestly at that point I would have paid $250 just for a glass of cold water and somewhere to sit for five minutes.”
The post and entire social media have been a-buzz with several persons debating on whether wedding vendors/service providers should be offered food or get their own since they’re being paid.
However many are on the side of the Reddit user writing that she should at least been allowed to take a break.
What do you think; should wedding providers be offered food at the event or bring their own lunch pack? Let us know.
