Google has announced that the WhatsApp chat transfer feature between iOS and Android is coming to Pixels and Android 12 smartphones. This feature was only recently available for Samsung newest foldable.
Google in its Pixel shipping box includes a Lightning to USB-C cable. This easily transfers your entire files and apps from iOS to its pixels.
The social media company says the feature will be available on “all Pixel phones” and later “become available on new smartphones that launch with Android 12.” In order for this to work, you will need to have both WhatsApp apps up to date and a USB-C to lightning cable around.
In order to set up your Android phone with your previous messages on iOS, you will be asked to scan a QR code. This QR code from your iPhone will start the transfer process to your Android phone.
This cool feature was first announced at Samsung’s August Unpacked event. The company’s flagship foldable Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 are both eligible for it. Samsung says its other phones “in the coming weeks” can access this feature.

All of the data transferred includes all photos, voice notes, and chats. “Your WhatsApp messages belong to you,” said Sandeep Paruchuri, product manager at WhatsApp.
“We’re excited for the first time to make it easy for people to securely transfer their WhatsApp history from one operating system to another. For Samsung phones, this chat history transfer works with a physical Lightning to USB-C cable.
WhatsApp’s new chat transfer feature solves an annoying data backup for Android and iOS. WhatsApp Backup is saved in either Google Drive or iCloud. Users can’t get their backed-up files once they switch to another OS.
Google isn’t pushing this feature to all Android 12 ready smartphones. The hardware manufacturers/OEMs will have to add support for the WhatsApp chat transfer while updating to Android 12.
Although WhatsApp says it is working with all smartphone manufacturers to support the functionality in the coming months.
