The song which has amassed 10.6 million radio audience impressions, 10.4 million US streams, and 2,200 downloads, ‘Love Nwantiti’ is currently at No. 33 on the Billboard Hot 100 after previously occupying the No. 32.

The song currently sits at No. 4 on the Billboard’s Global Excl US chart and No. 5 on the Billboard Global 200. It debuted at No. 2 on both lists.

According to Billboard, The Emerging Artist “ranks the most popular developing artists of the week, using the same formula as the all-encompassing Billboard Artist 100, which measures artist activity across multiple Billboard charts, including the Hot 100, Billboard 200 and the Social 50.

(The Artist 100 lists the most popular acts, overall, each week.) However, the Emerging Artists chart excludes acts that have notched a top 25 entry on either the Hot 100 or Billboard 200, as well as artists that have achieved two or more top 10s on Billboard’s “Hot” song genre charts and/or consumption-based “Top” album genre rankings.”

This is coming after Ckay’s “Love Nwantiti” was certified platinum in France, making it the first Nigerian song to achieve such a feat. The song which has hit 15 billion streams on TikTok has also been certified platinum in the UK.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Ckay recounted how the song was overlooked by his former label Chocolate City.

To be honest… it was overlooked. No one took it seriously because it wasn’t a fast song,” he said.

According to him, social media was the springboard to which the song shot to success.

“Social media definitely played a role — and it wasn’t only TikTok. It was also Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. The world discovered it one person at a time,” he added.

In 2019, the artist dropped “Love Nwantiti” in his  ‘CKay the First’ debut extended play (EP). He has since gone on to record several more versions of the hit son.
