Reports from Electrek say that Tesla is reportedly installing its Starlink dishes in some select Super charging stations. The report cited a Reddit user post about the dish installed at a Supercharger station in Lake City, Florida.

This new plan could be a supplement to the already existing Tesla Premuim conncectivity plan that offers a subscription service for $10 monthly and internet sevice for Tesla car owners.

Tesla already has plans to allow other Electric vehicles use their charging stations, this move could entice other EVs to use the Wi-Fi while they charge. Better still, the comonay could be planning to offer free Wi-Fi to its existing customers while they charge their Teslas.

Starlink has refreshed its dish with a new smaller rectangular design, this remake makes the dish thinner and lighter. This is a big change from the circular dish that its beta users have been using for some time now.

Users can easily mount this new dish on the roof of their buildings, and any other space of their choice. Its smaller size will reduce its interference with external objects too. The old dish measured about 23-inch wide and this new one measures just 12-inch wide.

Meanwhile, the new dish weighs about 9.2 pounds that’s almost half the weight of the older dish at 16 pounds. Starlink however hasn’t changed the pricing of this new rectangular dish, retailing for $499 as the old dish kit.

Probably still in development is Tesla’s food business. The company might be planning to launch its own eateries in its supercharger stations.

Three years ago Elon tweeted “Gonna put an old school drive-in, roller skates & rock restaurant at one of the new Tesla Supercharger locations in LA,”. on January 7, 2018. Hey, take that with a grain of salt.
