General Motors Will Begin Delivery Of Its Electric Hummers In December

General Motors will begin delivery of its electric Hummers in December according to CEO Duncan Aldred. The $112,000 base model price of the Hummer will be rivalling the likes of the Tesla Cybertruck and Rivian’s R1T.

GMC has a limed edition trim that has around 329 EPA mileage that is powered by three motors that generate 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 ft of torque. The Hummer EV has a towing capacity of 7,500 pounds and a carriage capacity of 1,300 pounds.

Despite its hefty weight, this truck accelerates extremely fast from zero to 60 miles in 3 seconds. The Hummer EV arriving next month will be the Edition 1 version, reaching final production in only 18 months.

Elsewhere, Tesla’s Cybertruck production has been delayed further to 2022, the electric company’s first pickup truck won’t be around anytime soon. Electric car page Electrek, saw the new changes right under the “due today” section of the Pickup order page.

Cybertruck delays

The page reads “You will be able to complete your configuration as production nears in 2022”.

Well, this is might be as a result of their production factories making the tesla model 3 and Y at full capacity. Leaving almost zero room for Cybertruck production. Tesla’s original plan for electric pickup production was towards the end of 2021. The Cybertruck is going up against GM’s Hummer EV  and the popular F-150 pickup which is a US country favourite.

The Cybertruck will be manufactured in the Austin plant, Texas currently ongoing construction; and delivered by the end of the year. GM’s Hummer EV has a “CrabWalk” mode, where its rear and front tires can move in the same direction diagonally. This feature aids practicality, as it manoeuvres tight corners brilliantly.
