Reports from Reuters and the Wall Street Journal say that at least nine US Department staffs working with/in Uganda have their iPhones hacked by NSO Spyware. Although the Wall Street Journal puts the total number of hacked iPhones to be 11.
No group has claimed responsibility for the hack just yet, but fingers have been pointed to the NSO group. This is due to their previous attack on other iPhones in the past months.
Reuters say this hack occurred in “the last several months”, almost cementing the fact it was an attack by the NSO group. The spyware group has come out to say that they are not aware of the accusations.
Apparently, the NSO Group has to obtain approval from the Israeli Ministry of Defense before selling its software to other agencies. The only agency the NSO Group sells to is the Governmental.

Apple is suing the Israeli NSO Group for infesting iPhones with Pegasus Spyware. This was after the group used a zero-click exploit to force their way into some iPhones. NSO Group is known for its aggressive hacking into phones and sites.
Alongside the charges, the Cupertino based company is “seeking a permanent injunction to ban NSO Group from using any Apple software, services, or devices.”
Pegasus spyware remotely accesses a phone camera, microphones and data from Androids and iPhones said Apple. The Tech company also made reference to the NSO group earlier infestation of Aljazeera journalist iPhones.
After its entry, the NSO’S Pegasus spyware makes theft and eavesdropping. Apple issued a security update after reports of the infestation in iO5 14.8 and iPad OS 14.8. The spyware in the form of a “maliciously crafted” PDF file led to the hack.
Assuredly, Apple says in iOS 15 it “has not observed any evidence of successful remote attacks against devices running iOS 15 and later versions.” The NSO Group has been added to the US entity list, meaning American companies cannot sell products or offer services to the Spy group.
