It may be time to cancel your Netflix account if you don’t use it and here is how to get that done properly to avoid getting billed for the next cycle.
Besides the increasing bill that a Netflix subscription brings every month, some of us are quite busy to watch anything meaningful on the platform. Additionally, with the return of the cinema, less and less people are watching the small screen. If any of this describes you, it may be time to cancel your sub.
The good thing is that you can always come back to Netflix when you have more time or if there are new shows to watch.

How to cancel your Netflix account
- Open the app and tap on the user icon at the top right of your screen (you can do this with any of the shared profiles attached to your account)
- Next, tap on Account and usually, you are directed to the account profile on a browser
- Scroll down until you find the Cancel Membership option and select it
- You will see a message that thanks you and lets you know when the cancellation will be effective (usually, at the end of your current billing period) and a button to Finish Cancellation
- Once you click the button, your account will be canceled.
If you reactive your Netflix account within 10 months after you canceled it, you can still see your profiles and selections. Remember that this is the only way to cancel your Netflix membership and deactivate your account.
“Signing out of your account or deleting the Netflix app doesn’t cancel your account,” the platform warns.
