Ubisoft to announce Assassin’s Creed franchise future in September

Assassin’s Creed fans to get an update on the future of their beloved franchise in September, according to Ubisoft’s latest.

The game studio announced that it will host a special event at the end of Q3 2022 to reveal its plans. Although the details are still sketchy, some information has leaked.

There is news that Ubisoft is working on two new projects for the franchise. The first one has a working title of Infinity and it will be a live service experience made up of several time periods and settings for players to enjoy.

However, the company’s CEO Yves Guillemot said in October 2021 that Infinity would not be free-to-play when it arrives.

The second project is codenamed Rift and it was an offspring of an Assassin’s Creed Valhalla expansion which has morphed into something else. It will now be a standalone game that is set around Basim Ibn Ishaq, one of the franchise’s main characters.

Rift already has a release plan in progress as its scope is limited and will likely be the first to be released. We will still have to wait for September before we can confirm anything.

The last game released under the franchise was 2020 Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which is playable on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Windows, Stadia, and Luna.

After the 2016 disappointment that was its live-action film, there has been no news of another under production.
