Apple Music will sponsor the next Super Bowl halftime show in February 2023 as it replaces Pepsi.

While there is no confirmation on how much Apple paid for the spot, a report by The New York Times claims that organisers, the NFL, had put a price tag of $50 million on it.
According to a press release, the Super Bowl LVI halftime show in February 2022 had pulled more than 120 million viewership. So, if things remain the same or improve slightly, the streaming platform could show itself to nearly that same number of people next year.
The Verge claims that the iPhone maker has already signed deals with Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer organisers to broadcast games on its video streaming platform, Apple TV Plus.

Also, it is allegedly working on an agreement to show NFL games on Sundays. Already, its rivals, Amazon Prime Video, has begun showing NFL games on Thursdays, after signing an agreement with the organisers.
In America, sports is the biggest TV attraction and a report by Sports Business Journal said that live sports dominated the list of 100 most watched programs in 2021 with a percentage of 95. Also, 75 per cent of the sports programs were NFL games.
It is no wonder that streaming companies are turning their attention to the sports industry as a means to grow their audience.
Of course, the Super Bowl halftime show is more than just a sporting event and many consider it a music concert. In 2022’s edition, we had Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar give memorable performances.
