Elon Musk, the new boss of Twitter, has sent a letter to advertisers, assuring them that he plans to build ‘the most respected advertising platform in the world.’
Following his takeover of the microblogging site, there has been several gloomy predictions about his plans. In a report, Bloomberg claims that the celebrity CEO is changing his mind about firing 75% of Twitter employees. However, despite his photo ops at the company’s San Francisco office, some sources still say that there is apprehension among employees as they anticipate job cuts.
After inspiring faith in employees on Wednesday, Musk turned his attention to advertisers, who are responsible for a chunk of the company’s income on Thursday. He tweeted a letter, which he captioned “Dear Twitter Advertisers.”

5 takeaways from Elon Musk letter to Twitter advertisers
1. First, he claimed that his motivation to buy Twitter is because of its role in the future of civilization as a common digital town square. He says it is not about making more money.
2. Then, he reassured them that his plan to uphold freedom of speech tenets will not turn the platform into a free-for-all hellscape.
3. Musk said that there will be consequences, although, he didn’t go into details on what sort of content will warrant punishment. We will likely have to wait for the updated Twitter policy by the end of 2022 or early 2023 to know all the facts.
4. He mentioned that users will be able to choose their desired experience according to their preferences. This statement is also tricky because it could mean creating parallel experiences where you could miss out on an entire aspect of the platform. Although, it can be good to shield you from seeing offensive content, it could also encourage hate to thrive unchecked.
5. Finally, Elon Musk hinted at changing how ads work by saying that you will see adverts that are relevant to your needs. It is not clear how this will work without the site collect some of your personal data or monitoring your activities. This upgrade is another aspect of the new Twitter that we look forward to.
