Xiaomi 13 series has been one of the most anticipated phone launches of 2022, especially after leaks claimed that the device was coming with a design similar to the prestigious iPhone.
The company has now confirmed that it would launch on December 11, ten days after its initial launch date was shifted because of the passing of former President of the People’s Republic of China, Jiang Zemin.
According to details it released today, December 8, the event will start at 1:30 pm GMT on Sunday. However, it is important to note that this launch event is for its Chinese customers and you may not understand mush of what is being said unless the organisers supply subtitles.
In a report, Android Police said that the Xiaomi 13 series international launch will happen at a later date. It is not clear when the lineup would make its way to markets outside China.

Besides these disappointing side reports, the images gleaned from leaked renders show that the device sports a square camera bump on its back. Rumours claim that the lead shooter is a 50MP Sony IMX989 lens, which it introduced in the premium Xiaomi 12S Ultra. In addition, it will have 50MP ultra-wide and 50MP telephoto sensors to bring improved photography capabilities.
On the front, Xiaomi 13 Pro variant offers a 6.7-inch 2K 120Hz curved AMOLED panel. We are yet to see what the selfie camera design is, but as a reminder, its last lineup used a tiny cut out in the top-center of the display.
What we have heard is that the Xiaomi 13 Pro packs the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and offers a range of storage options that begin from 12GB/512GB upwards. Its 4,800mAh battery is chargeable with a 120W fast charging support.
Alongside the launch of the Xiaomi 13 series, the company is also launching its MIUI 14 operating system which is based on Android 13. This news means that international users would be able to enjoy Android 13 on their Xiaomi smartphones too. For now, Xiaomi 13 phones are expected to cost $400 (NGN250,000) and lower.
