In a post on Monday night, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed that work has been ongoing on the artificial intelligence front at the company. Staying true to his promise of efficiency to investors during an earnings call in early February, the tech billionaire said that employees are are being pulled from various projects to make the AI dream work.
“We’re creating a new top-level product group at Meta focused on generative AI to turbocharge our work in this area. We’re starting by pulling together a lot of the teams working on generative AI across the company into one group focused on building delightful experiences around this technology into all of our different products,” his post read in part.

In the short term, Meta wants to push out creative and expressive products. However, in the long term, the company wants to build entire AI personas to help users achieve tasks.
“Over the longer term, we’ll focus on developing AI personas that can help people in a variety of ways. We’re exploring experiences with text (like chat in WhatsApp and Messenger), with images (like creative Instagram filters and ad formats), and with video and multi-modal experiences,” he added.
Zuckerberg admits that there is still a lot of work to be done on the foundational basis before getting to the more powerful tools he teased in the announcements. However, with the speed at which technological advancements are being made, it may not be long before we have a AI tools powering most of our social media experience.
It remains to be seen how the company plans to monetise the tools, will users have to pay a monthly subscription to use them?
