A South Korean man recently posted a picture online of his new Galaxy S10 5G phone that mysteriously burnt. Following this, Samsung said in a statement that the damage was from an external impact and not an internal glitch.

In 2016, Samsung did a global recall of the Galaxy Note 7 devices over exploding batteries. It was a very embarrassing and expensive process for the tech giants.

Now, this smartphone user identified by Lee claims that his Galaxy S10 5G phone burnt for no reason at all. This implies that it was an internal issue contrary to Samsung’s response.

According to AFP, Lee said,

“My phone was on the table when it started smelling burnt and smoke soon engulfed the phone. I had to drop it to the ground when I touched it because it was so hot.”

He added that he had not done anything to the phone, which has now gone completely bad from the burn. He went on to say that Samsung refuses to refund him the $1,200 he spent on the phone.

Samsung prides itself with providing the very first smartphones with built-in 5G technology. The company introduced the new series of Galaxy phones as revolutionary devices. The S10 devices were released on 5th April 2019.

This is not great news for Samsung’s reputation. In the past week, the company had to delay the release of its foldable phones after reviewers shared many complaints on social media. The company admitted that the Galaxy Fold phones needed some more improvements when the versions sent out for review had obvious screen problems.
