“Don’t strive to be famous; strive to be talented.” – Maisie Williams
You can hardly talk about HBO’s hit show, “Game of Thrones” without the name, Arya Stark, coming up. Played by Maisie Williams, the young woman is currently one of the most popular and loved actors in the world. The actress made her professional debut on the show in 2011.
An entrepreneur and an activist, Williams has no formal qualifications to her name. Instead, she built her career on a number of seemingly normal opportunities that evolved into extraordinary, life-changing events.
Maisie Williams told it all at TEDxManchester earlier in 2019. The video below shows her telling the story of her working from the age of 12 on what ended up becoming the biggest television show of all time.
At age 10, she told her mum she wanted to stop schooling. Then, she entered stage school and wanted to become a dancer. Eventually, she got the role on Game of Thrones.
She explains why she thinks right now is the perfect time to build tools for communities, Her platform, Daisie, will redefine creative collaboration.
Daisie is a social media platform aimed at bringing creative people together. It cuts across the world of arts, fashion, tv, film, photography, music and literature. The app aims to bring individuals from across industries together. This will help to foster collaborations with other artists and provide an alternative route into creative industries.
