Apple in a recent report has made a pledge to iPhone users that it will warn them if an OS update may have an impact on their devices. This is especially if the update is likely to make the device slow or affect the phone’s battery life.

In 2017, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) in the UK expressed concerns about an update issue. It said people had not realised that an operating system update could affect their iPhone’s performance.

They explained that users of iPhones had to keep replacing their batteries and repairing their devices unnecessarily. They have made it now that they can now take court actions if Apple refuses to comply.

The CMA website read,

“To ensure compliance with consumer law, Apple has formally agreed to improve the information it provides to people about the battery health of their phones and the impact performance management software may have on their phones.”

They added that Apple was bound to committing to greater levels of transparency by signing the law.

The tech giant, however, believes that the changes it effected in its update meant that it already works in accordance with the CMA’s wishes. One of such improvements is the way users can now monitor their Apple iPhone battery’s performance.
