Florence Otedola AKA DJ Cuppy promised us an album and now she’s going to make that come through. The DJ and producer has released the full tracklist to her incoming debut album “Original Copy.”
A few weeks back, she teased with the preview track to the album “Jollof on a jet” featuring Rema. The song is already doing impressive numbers as it has racked in over 2million views on streaming platforms.
Speaking to Bellanaija on what inspired the name she said:
“When I first started making music, a lot of people thought I was doing something I shouldn’t really be doing. They felt I was being a bit of a rebel and DJing was something I should stick to. All my life, I’ve always felt like I was going against the grain. Choosing the right name was so important to me. We played around with a few names and ultimately put it in the hands of my fans, the cupcakes”

“After a really long process and a poll, ‘Original Cuppy’ was picked but I decided to tweak it to Original Copy which is an Oxymoron because I am a contradiction; I’m exactly what I shouldn’t be according to my environment.”
The album which consists of 12 tracks features an array of diverse artists including music veteran award-winning Wyclef Jean, Sir Shina Peters, Seyi Shay, Fireboy DML, Ghanian Superstars- Stonebwoy and Efya, London based musicians Darkoo and also, Ms Banks and many more.

The album when released, will solidify and properly position Cuppy in the fast-rising Afrobeats genre.
