For the first time in the history of Pokémon series, the new game will not have a full Pokémon collection. Before now, the games let players transfer Pokémon between versions to maintain full set.

 

The producer of Pokémon, Junichi Masuda, said the new Nintendo Switch game will bring the total number of Pokémon to more than 1000 with the new additions. The Pokémon Sword and Shield will also focus on including the Pokémon that best fits the game’s new environment.

 

 

Masuda said including models for more than 1,000 Pokémon would be too demanding. It will make it difficult for the development team to balance the roaster for gameplay. They also worry that, if they introduce new Pokémon, it will affect the former favourites.

 

Notwithstanding, the game will still have hundreds of Pokémon when it arrives on 15th November 2019. The Pokémon series first launched in the 90s with the popular catchphrase, Gotta catch ’em all.

 

The latest games Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be the first ones that will not include every breed of Pokémon.

 

The Pokémon company have been able to maintain the same Pokémon captured in the 1998 Game Boy releases to the 2017 games. The game always leaves room for players to be able to transfer their old favourites into the new games.

 

Game Freak will include the hundreds of new and old Pokémon that will fit into the new environment. The players will be able to trade and transfer many of the classic Pokémon monsters. A very popular favourite will be Pikachu.

 

It seems players aren’t very happy about the news. Fans seem to expect not just all the old faces but new ones as well.

 

Meanwhile, the Pokémon company has recently unveiled an app called Pokémon Home. It is where players can store and trade all their Pokémon from various versions of the game.
