Captain Marvel’s scene-stealer, Lashana Lynch, will reportedly become the new 007 in Bond 25. In Spectre, the film ends with James Bond retiring. Fans of the 007 sequels have been wondering who his replacement would be. Thankfully, the crew could not keep this secret under wraps, or maybe there’s a spy in their midst.
What we do know is that Bond 25 will open with James Bond living a life of luxury in Jamaica. According to The Mail, his 007 number has been handed off to an MI6 agent allegedly played by Lashana Lynch. The 31-year-old would play the role of what seems to be a Bond ‘woman’ instead of a Bond ‘girl’.
“There is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says ‘Come in 007’, and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful and a woman. It’s a popcorn-dropping moment. Bond is still Bond, but he’s been replaced as 007 by this stunning woman.
“Bond, of course, is s*xually attracted to the new female 007 and tries his usual seduction tricks, but is baffled when they don’t work on a brilliant, young black woman who basically rolls her eyes at him and has no interest in jumping into his bed. Well, certainly not at the beginning.”
Daniel Craig graced the screen and role as the British Spy for many years, but now there’s a twist.
Fans will meet the British actress, Lashana Lynch, in the still-untitled Bond 25. She had her breakthrough role as the fighter pilot Maria Rambeau in Captain Marvel. There she was a powerful woman in a man’s world, now she will be a powerful spy in a man’s world.
There would be quite a stir in the Bond franchise with the new character being added to the fold.
It would have been a popcorn dropping moment if they had disclosed this in the cinema, but it’s not too late. There’s still a lot that fans of the Bond sequel do not know. One thing we’re certain about is that it premieres in April 2020. The James Bond franchise’s 25th movie is currently being shot in Italy and the UK and we can’t wait for its release.
