Ahead of its launch on 9th October 2021, EA Sports have confirmed that the Italian club, AS Roma, will not feature on FIFA 21. This news comes after the Serie A club refused to grant the gaming company rights to use its name and those of its players.
Thus, FIFA 21 will rename the club as Roma FC instead. Also, its iconic Stadio Olimpico stadium will be called Stadion Olympik.
AS Roma joins Juventus as one of the biggest clubs in Italy to not grant the gaming company rights to feature it. On FIFA 20, Juventus had been renamed Piemonte Calcio because PES (Pro Evolution Soccer) reserved exclusive rights to the club.
However, it is not much of a difference. EA Sports said, “you can still expect to see the same AS Roma real-world, authentic players and related likenesses in EA SPORTS FIFA 21 and EA SPORTS FIFA 21 Ultimate Team.
“Player Chemistry within EA SPORTS FIFA 21 Ultimate Team will be unaffected by these changes.”
You can also use the renamed Roma FC that comes with a custom badge and kit in various FIFA 21 modes, like; Kick-Off, Career Mode, FIFA Ultimate Team and VOLTA FOOTBALL.
