The Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics and Paralympic Games will usher in some new robots courtesy of Toyota. The Japanese auto company looks to improve mobility and transportation with these robots. It will support athletes and guests to get around the venue and improve the gaming experience.

Take a look at some of the Toyota robots to expect at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics and Paralympic Games.

 

1. Miraitowa and Someity

 

These two robots are based on Tokyo’s official Olympic mascots. They are pink and blue big-eyed bots that will serve as greeters at the official venues. They will also act as photo-ops. Because they are equipped with cameras and digital eyes, they will make facial expressions in response to human interaction. The robots, equipped with the ability to move their arms and legs, will eventually deploy across Japan to give kids a feel of the games.

 

2. The HSR and DSR

 

The Human Support Robot (HSR) and Delivery Support Robot (DSR) are usher robots. They will provide guidance at the venues and transport snacks and souvenirs. Guests can sit back and relax as these robots serve them at the Tokyo Games. The DSR is specifically for delivering drinks and concessions to attendees at the venues. Attendees will also see dedicated tablets for people to order from. It offers a modern replacement for hawkers walking with food and drinks.

 

3. Field Support Robot (FSR)

The FSR will support games that involve throwing things to a far distance. They will help with games like shot-put and javelin. It will return them to where they are needed once they have been thrown and recorded. FSR will pretty much play the fetcher for the games.
