Tinder will soon get a new update that will look out for the LGBTQ community. The new alert will warn the users when they are travelling to a country, like Nigeria, where their dating choices are banned or forbidden. The tool, called Traveler Alert, automatically hides their profiles when they are in countries where same-s*x coupling is illegal.

These users can decide if they want to stay hidden when they are in these countries. However, if they have decided to go on a public profile, the app will remove their s*xual orientations or special gender. The dating app will do this to protect them against law enforcement or human threats. However, this alert will only pop up when the user uses Tinder Passport to swipe on the app.
The team at Tinder partnered with the International Lesbian, Gay, Bis*xual, Trans and Inters*x Association. The association helped them identify the 69 countries where same-s*x relationships are illegal. A lot of countries around the world still have stiff laws against homos*xuality. In some countries, the penalties are more grave than in others.
Countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia can in fact give death penalties to people in same-s*x relationships.
Tinder is not the only app sending out these warnings to members of the LGBTQ community. Gay dating app Scruff also warns its users about the potential consequences of visiting LGBTQ unfriendly countries. On its part, Tinder has been able to spread its tentacles to many countries around the world.
The dating app is keeping safety in mind as it continues to expand across more countries. It chooses to remind its users of the potential consequences of keeping their gay profiles private. The dating app is used for both straight and homos*xual relationships.
