Microsoft office comes in three main versions: Office 2019, Office 365, and Office Online. Well, the latter is about to change with the latest version. Microsoft Office Online is now shedding Online off its name and will now be just Office.

Senior Product Marketing Manager for Office Apps Strategy, Bill Doll explained the move. He said that Office now appears across a wide range of platforms, it would not be appropriate to use any ‘platform-specific sub-brands.’
Apparently, it was for reason this that Microsoft decided to drop the sub-brand that is ‘Online’. Other similar Microsoft apps like Excel Online, Powerpoint Online, Word Online, and the like have also dropped the Online in their names.
The name change does not, however, come with any extra features. It is just a brand thing, and people can still refer to it as they wish. Microsoft says they encourage people to use whichever terminology they find “most appropriate and provides the most clarity for a given context.”
Nevertheless, the fact that it is now being changed to just Office will leave users at the liberty to give it a different suffix. To be honest, we all know no one will just automatically switch to calling it just Office. There is a high chance that it will be addressed according to what platform it’s being used on.
