Despite the very heavy $5 billion fine slammed on Facebook, the company is still under investigation. America’s Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is also now doing an antitrust investigation on one of the biggest tech companies in the world.

The FTC did not wait very long to make this known. They quickly revealed this was going on just after the $5-billion-dollar settlement was agreed upon. A statement from Facebook read: “In June 2019, we were informed by the FTC that it had opened an antitrust investigation of our company.”

This would be the second time that Facebook would be going through an antitrust probe. However, this time, the Justice Department in the US has also revealed that it will conduct an antitrust review of other major tech companies.

Facebook under more fire

Facebook had first made the settlement announcement that it reached with the FTC. Apparently, it followed the investigation into the social media company’s privacy practices. Facebook made certain agreements as part of the deal. Apart from the fine, the company agreed to create an independent privacy committee to check their practises.

They also had to pay another $100 million fine as fine for the Cambridge Analytica violations. The Security and Exchange Committee revealed this bit.

All these sound like a lot of money to regular people, but it is probably not that big a deal for Facebook. The social media platform reported $16.9 billion in revenue recently. However, there are speculations that, amidst all these, the company’s growth may experience some decline.

The decline may come from its stricter advertising rules which it needs to stay out of more trouble. Meanwhile, it seems Mark Zuckerberg might have it all under control at the moment. This is judging from the other ventures the company is reaching for.
