On the job posting, Facebook revealed they were looking for a strategic partner manager that will work with emerging digital media publishers. This is coming in the wake of Instagram suspending dozens of meme makers. They did this in July 2019 because the accounts violated the company’s term of service.
The role will involve managing “strategy, implementation, and optimization of Instagram’s strategic partnerships with select digital publishers.” The chosen candidate will also plan initiatives with meme accounts.
Minimum qualification, however, would be “10+ years (of) experience in media and publishing, content production and/or partner management, with a focus on digital publishing.” The location of the job is in New York, USA so it will most likely only be open to people who have a permit to work in America.
This recruitment is particularly interesting because Instagram faced a recent backlash for purging meme makers. It permanently suspended certain meme accounts on July 2019.
However, petitions are being made to reinstate some of the suspended accounts.
