Game director, Luke Smith and general manager, Mark Noseworthy announced the delay of the launch of “Destiny 2: Shadowkeep”. The free-to-play game, titled New Light, will now get a 1st October 2019 release date. This is the latest expansion to the highly anticipated game.
The game creators said,
“As we get closer and closer to serving up Shadowkeep and New Light, it has become increasingly clear to us that our releases for this Fall would benefit from a bit more time in the oven. Being independent means that the future of Destiny 2 is entirely on our team.”
“It also means that we’re agile enough to choose to do what’s best for the game and our players, even if it’s the hard choice. We wanted to let you—our Community—know first that we’re changing the date for Shadowkeep and New Light from September 17 to October 1.”

Noseworthy and Smith also said that there are other changes coming with the date changes. They explained that the next raid titled Garden of Salvation would open up on October 5. Also, the most popular addition, cross-save will go live just before the release of Shadowkeep.
However, Smith has revealed on Twitter that he will publish a post on the State of the Game soon to talk more on the game.
Shadowkeep would benefit from a little more time on the workbench, so we’re going to take it.
Shadowkeep & New Light will launch on 10/1/19, more details here: https://t.co/sHG9r28oGI

I’m hoping to publish a State of the Game (warning: likely very long, somewhat-to-very nerdy) post next week looking at the last six months of learnings from Destiny 2 and outlining the kind of changes we’re making to the game in Shadowkeep and why.

The game is a dark fantasy game set in outta space. According to its description:
“New Nightmares have emerged from the shadows of our forgotten Moon. Called forth by haunting visions from her tormented past, Eris Morn has returned and unleashed something that once slumbered beneath the lunar surface – a long-dormant power even she cannot control.”
