HP Inc. has just announced that it has a new CEO. The former head of the company, Dion Weisler, had to step down due to family issues. He is now being replaced by the president of HP’s printer division, Enrique Lores. The new CEO will officially begin his role on 1st November 2019.

In a statement, Weisler said,

“Serving as CEO of HP is the highlight of my career, and I want to thank the entire HP team for the support they have shown me. I’m incredibly proud of what we have achieved and equally confident in where we are heading as a company.”

He added,

“Enrique has been a tremendous partner whose leadership has been instrumental in setting this company up for success and delivering on our strategy. He is one of the smartest people I know, and I have great confidence in his ability to lead and inspire the next chapter of HP’s transformation and growth.”

According to HP, Weisler will still be the director of the company’s board. He will remain in this capacity until the company’s next annual stockholder meeting in April 2020. Weisler became CEO in 2015 after HP split into two parts. HP Inc. was the PC and printer business part which was led by Weisler.

There was also the enterprise service part called HPE. That one was led by a former HP CEO, Meg Whitman. However, Whitman stepped down from her role as CEO in 2015. She is now the co-founder of Quibi, a short video platform.

The new HP CEO, Lores, joined HP 30 years ago as an engineering intern.

However, in 2018, he and his team unveiled a printer that had zero-gravity. The printer was designed for the International Space Station.

However, Enrique Lores explained that the opportunities ahead of him were endless. He said,

“Thirty years ago, I was drawn to HP by the company’s unique ability to bring out the best of humanity through the power of technology.”

“The opportunities ahead are vast and the need for us to keep reinventing is more important than ever. I continue to be inspired by our customers, partners and employees, who are turning bold ideas into meaningful innovations. This is where we will set our sights for the future.”
