Nigerian Twitter is currently going wild because of a shocking #JusticeForJemima story narrated by a man named Othniel Anselm. Writing in a thread of tweets, he narrated how a drunk driver, after celebrating his birthday, ran into a keke carrying his sister and her friend to church. The driver of the tricycle died immediately. However, the two ladies, still alive, were rushed to a nearby hospital immediately.
According to him, the federal hospital rejected the ladies, requesting a police report before they could be treated. They died before they could be attended to in another hospital.
Anselm called out for justice for his sister and her friend. He stated that the drunk driver, who was not harmed for the accident he caused, was taken to the police station. However, the police planned to grant him bail.
And their murderer may go Scott-free because of corruption within the police force.
All I want is justice. I owe my sister that much.

I join in calling for justice for #Jemila, both the hospital that refused admitting her and the drunk driver and the police men who are trying to sweep this case under the carpet. pic.twitter.com/bgRvwXZg2r— Julius Diamond (@juliusdiamondd) October 24, 2019
Oct 20th is the day I cannot forget because death took my friend Jenny and Jemimah. I cannot stop thinking abt the pain they both passed through before dying. Drinking and driving. Man slaughter on three counts, and you want to set him free on bail??? But you are always trigger happy around peaceful citizens going about their business, because they look good. It’s really about the money for you guys. Ffs! We want #justiceforjemima

This Jemima story is quite sad.
But I find it quite odd that the hospital requested a police report before attending to RTA casualties.I know this cos I’ve covered shifts in that hospital before during my days in Jos & that’s not their policy.#JusticeForJemima

This thread is painful
Jemima, her friend and the Keke rider deserved better.
Everyone has the right to life! You don’t turn away accident victims because of a police report, it doesn’t make sense.
An accident? Head to the hospital not the police station#justiceforjemima https://t.co/J9z6kT4kiA

If you ask the doctors, they will tell you that we don’t need any police report to commence treatment of accident victims. But in the real world, they do the opposite.
If we don’t drag the people involved in this one, this impunity will continue.#justiceforjemima

In a better country,
Jemima and Jeniffer would’ve been admitted and placed under security pending the time a family comes around to submit the unnecessary police report (in this case)
Hence, their lives would’ve been saved. But this is Nigeria.#justiceforjemima

Contrary to popular opinion, Nigerian hospitals dont require a police report for accident victims.
But in the event the patient was brought in dead, a police report may be filed in some cases, & only a doctor can certify a patient dead on arrival, not d family.#JusticeForJemima— teQ™ (@wired_physician) October 24, 2019
Meanwhile, Plat4om stands strongly against driving under the influence. Doing this puts both the driver’s and others’ lives at risk. Don’t drive under the influence.
