If you thought the rift between Burna Boy and South Africans was over, think again. Grammy-nominated singer Burna Boy has been dropped from the Afropunk concert in South Africa.

The Nigerian Afrofusion artiste was set to perform at the Afropunk festival in Johannesburg set to hold later this month.

However, organisers of the concert on Friday announced that after a joint discussion with the “Anybody” crooner’s team, they agreed that “now isn’t the right time” for Burna Boy to come to South Africa.

This comes a month after we received an announcement that Burna Boy would no longer perform at “Africans Unite”. The anti-xenophobia concert was scheduled to hold in South Africa in November. The organisers made the decision following protests and petitions against Burna Boy’s inclusion in the concert. Shortly afterwards, they cancelled the concert altogether.

The news of Burna Boy’s withdrawal from the Afropunk concert was met with mixed reactions. Some stated that the Nigerian singer was their reason for buying the tickets to the concert while others welcomed the decision.
