It now mandates that all new houses constructed in the region come with a solar panel for generating clean energy.

Back in May 2018, the California lawmakers had been trying to pass the law after the California Energy Commission (CEC) approved the requirement. Towards December of the same year, the law was slated to go into effect in January 2020.

According to CGTN, it is now fully effective. Experts believe that the law could mean additional financial burden for new homeowners. With the CEC saying that it increases the cost of purchasing a house by an extra $8,000 to $10,000.

Homeowners can buy solar panels or lease them as they deem affordable. Despite the law being made strictly for new houses, old house owners are also getting solar panels for their buildings.

This is because there are rebate programmes that make it more affordable. There is also another reason why old homeowners are cashing in on this opportunity.

Experts say people using solar panels get to save more on electric bills and other maintenance costs. There is also the fact that using this alternative form of energy contributes to the reduction of gas emissions in the atmosphere.

California is leading the way to making the earth more livable. Other states may follow through with this kind of mandate according to reports online.

The modern world seems to be using technology advancement to improve the way we live.
