The Soundcity MVP Awards took place on Saturday at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre, Lagos. Nominees for the awards were announced a few weeks earlier, and the night promised to be one of immense fun.
GoodGirl LA was one of the first artistes to perform. Other performers include Oxlade, Big Tril, Joeboy, Fireboy and so forth. South African media personality Bonang Matheba hosted the event.
African Giant and Grammy-nominated musician Burna Boy was among the top winners as he went home with three awards. He cemented his throne as the new king of Afrobeat with his second successive win for African Artist of the year.
Naira Marley also went home with his first award, as his song “Soapy” won the Viewer’s Choice award.
