Movie streaming platform, Netflix has issued an apology on Twitter after they dropped the trailer of “Cuties” set for release in September.
The trailer directed by French filmmaker Maïmouna Doucouré shows 11 yr, old girls, tw*rking, and scantily dressed as they pursue their love for dancing while seeking liberation from their religion and families.
However, the trailer attracted outrage on Twitter as users condemned Netflix for its s*xualisation of little girls in an age where there is a global effort against the menace of r*pe and s*xual violence.
Others were of the opinion that Netflix was promoting immorality and promiscuity to young girls while portraying African and Islamic culture in a bad light.

The hypersexualization of young Black girls is the worst thing ever.
Other races can have stories centered around love, adventure, finding themselves but Black women get an 11 year old Black girl plus company twerking and being sexualised.

Meanwhile, Netflix has tendered a public apology on Twitter stating that the pictures have been updated since the earlier artwork used was inappropriate.
We’re deeply sorry for the inappropriate artwork that we used for Mignonnes/Cuties. It was not OK, nor was it representative of this French film which won an award at Sundance. We’ve now updated the pictures and description.
