Foxconn has announced that it is ready to resume production again by the end of March 2020. The primary assembler and supplier of iPhone parts says that half of its seasonal workers are now back at work.
Foxconn adds that it is still unable to predict the virus’s actual impact on its full-year financial results.
“Prevention of outbreak, resumption of work and production are our top priority,” Chairman Liu Young-Way said to during an online investor conference on Tuesday.
Foxconn’s Chairman had said in late February 2020 that it is cautiously resuming production at its main plants in mainland China.
The coronavirus originated in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. The disease can be transmitted from person to person via body fluid and has spread to more than 60 countries. The virus has infected over 86,000 people and killed more than 3,000.

Foxconn’s optimism likely arises from reports that China is seeing a reduction in new coronavirus cases. This development will likely encourage Apple as it is set to announce a new phone in 2020.
Many companies have told their employees to work from home and minimise travel. However, the technology sector is exempt from Many restrictions, as it is seen as critical. Huawei and Samsung have continued to operate production facilities in spite of the outbreak.
Foxconn said it was previously hoping to resume half production before the end of February 2020, before reaching 80 percent of total output by March. Its factories in India, Mexico, and Vietnam currently operate at full capacity whilst expansion plans are in place to mitigate the impact of the coronavirus.
