On Sunday 1st March 2020, popular vlogger Toke Makinwa in a short video posted on Instagram advised ladies on how to find love. She joked that their husbands will not “fly inside the roof” to marry them.

 

In her words, she revealed that she was shaking a table on which she herself was also seated because she doesn’t go out.

 

Toke revealed that she looks forward to a time when ladies like her will just do their makeup, dress up and go out on dates with themselves.

 

Makinwa posted:

 

“This video is to shade myself and anyone on this table. I’m just going to say it as it is. Husband is not going to fly inside the roof to find you. Dates are not going to come knocking on our doors.”

“You know we keep saying, how am I going to meet people including myself ill be forced to say oh I don’t meet anyone that because I’m single, that’s not to say that I may really searching but a girl can go to a date, go to the cinema, go dancing, meet someone that she likes.

 

“We are always saying we don’t meet people but we don’t go out, myself included on this table. When a guy says ‘what are you doing later?’ I find like ten reasons not to go out… let’s change for the better, how are we going to meet people, this is 2020,” She finished.

 

 

There were differing views on the post. Some followers felt the video was unnecessary because Toke Makinwa is a celebrity. They believe she must be having a lot of male admirers, while others saw a lot of sense in what she said.

 

So where do we find love? At work, in the church or mosque, at a restaurant, the cinema, at an event? the list goes on. Should a woman always go out so she can meet prospective suitors?
