Experts are saying that is no correlation between mobile phone networks, especially 5G and cancer or any other diseases. This comes after several years of reviewing the effects of exposure to electromagnetic fields.

These studies will help provide improved regulation for 5G technologies requiring high frequencies that is in its infancy. This will be the first time since 1998 that an update on the guidelines protecting humans from radiation from phone networks, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth will be provided.

It is important to note that the guidelines will not apply to the network masts. But mobile phones will have more conservative limits imposed on them when they connect to a higher frequency of 5G networks.

Mobile trade group, GSMA says the changes will not affect the current 5G phones as they already fall within the new limits.

Van Rogen who was part of the research says:

“We also considered all other types of effects for instance, whether radio waves could lead to the development of cancer in the human body. We find that the scientific evidence for that is not enough to conclude that indeed there is such an effect.”

Mr Rogen says he hopes the research would put people at ease regarding developing 5G network.

“We know parts of the community are concerned about the safety of 5G, and we hope the updated guidelines will help put people at ease,” Mr Rongen also said.

The GSMA’s chief regulatory officer, John Giusti in response to the research also commented:

“Twenty years of research should reassure people there are no established health risks from their mobile devices or 5G antennas.”

Campaign groups have been lobbying for tighter phone network rules over the years. Part of their claims is that the 5G network’s higher frequency rules are dangerous.
