Twitter recently updated its privacy section concerning additional information sharing with business partners, here is everything you need to know about this 2020 update.
Many Twitter users already received a notification fro them to check up on what is new about the privacy update. The update came on 6th April 2020 and it mentions some important things. Below is a screenshot of the notification that users received.
The company opens by explaining what purposes the information about users serve. It says that it improves their services, personalises users’ Twitter experience and for other purposes.
Twitter also gives users control over non-public personal data that may be shared if they are located in some specified regions. Users can choose to allow additional information sharing with business partners by adjusting the setting in their Personalization and Data settings.
The social media company shares IP address and mobile device advertising identifiers from users with partners such as Facebook and Google.
It mentions that it not only shares those of users who have signed up but those of people who have only downloaded the app. However, it does not share names, emails, phone numbers, or Twitter usernames.

Also, once you disable the Allow additional information sharing with business partners setting, Twitter cannot share this non-public information.
Twitter does not share the details of users living in countries located in the European Union or the United Kingdom, even with the aforementioned setting enabled.
Twitter also admits that it shares non-public personal information with advertisers who run mobile application advertising campaigns through its platform.
These include which ads a particular browser or device saw, watched or generally interacted with. It might also share that a mobile device identifier viewed or clicked on an ad for a particular mobile application.
Yet, it confirms that it will not share names, emails, phone numbers, or Twitter usernames of customers.
While it does not share this information directly with advertisers acting as data processors; these ones frequently access this data through data processor partnerships.
It explains that data processors act on Twitter’s behalf to facilitate measurement and analytics solutions for its customers.
