Police Parade Six Suspects Connected To The Murder Of Uwaila Omozuwa

In a recent and very much welcomed development, the police have arrested six suspects connected with the murder of Uwaila Omozuwa. Recall that her death caused an uproar across the country and sparked off the hashtag #justiceforuwa.

 

Uwaila Omozuwa had gone to read in a church on May 13. There, she was accosted by her assailants, beaten and r*aped. She died on May 31, 18 days after.

Now the police have paraded six people connected to the gruesome murder at the Police command headquarters on Wednesday, August 26th in Benin City.

Their names are Nelson Ogbebor, Akato Valentine, Tina Samuel, Mary Ade, Nosa Osabohien and Collins Ulegbe.

The Commissioner of Police, Edo state said efforts to find Uwaila’s killers were intensified because of the public outcry. He also said the Inspector-General of Police has great interest in the case.

The matter was a great concern to the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Muhammed Adamu. He sent to us here in Benin, homicide experts to work with our policemen at the state criminal investigation department.” he said.

 

“What we are seeing today, is a result of the uniting efforts of the police to get at the root of the crime. And today, I announce to you and making public through this medium that the perpetrators have been arrested.”

He also assured the general public of their commitment to solving the case

“I assure the good people of Edo State that we will leave no stone unturned to unravel the mystery behind this.” he said.
