Samsung Donates 500 Galaxy A2 Devices To Nigeria’s Ministry Of Health

In a bid to support the country’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, Samsung Nigeria donated 500 Galaxy A2 Core devices to the Ministry of Health in Abuja. See more information on this below.

 

Nigeria has been facing a huge task in curbing the spread of the pandemic in the country. Like many other places in the world, the nation also has to battle fake information and outright disbelief in the virus among citizens.

 

Samsung Nigeria also partnered with MTN to bundle the devices with 2GB data for six months. Announcing the donation via a Tweet, the company said:

Mr Caden Yu, the MD of Samsung Nigeria said, “Our thoughts are with every Nigerian and this donation is a way of using our resources to fight this pandemic. Through our collaborative effort, we will get through this”.

 

There is no mention of how the Nigerian Ministry of Health plans to use the Samsung A2 Core devices to fight COVID-19. However, it is a budget device that comes with 2,600mAh battery capacity, 1GB RAM and was launched in April 2019.

 

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the country has so far confirmed 37,225 cases of the coronavirus. It has discharged 15,333 patients and recorded 801 deaths.

 

There have been key improvements in combating the virus in Nigeria. Today, 21st July 2020, the NCDC announced five new labs in its Molecular Laboratory Network; taking the number to 58 labs in 30 states in the country. All these labs have the ability to test for COVID-19.
