With the launch of iOS 14, Google is rolling out faster and easier means for users to access its apps and services. In a blog post on 18th September 2020, the makers of the iOS rival, Android, revealed new tips.
It says that users can add two types of its Widgets to the software’s Home Screen. Google says, “Starting today, we’re giving you lightning-fast access to Search with a Widget in two sizes: one with just Search, and one with shortcuts to three additional ways to search, depending on your preference.”
With its app, the Google app, the search company offers users an unlimited array of search options. You can opt for typing, talking, or even using your camera lens to search. Also, on the iOS 14, Google quick search bar offers all of this including an incognito mode for privacy.

To set up Search as a Home Screen Widget on iOS 14, first download the Google app from the App Store. Then do the following:
- Press and hold on the home screen of your iPhone or iPad
- Tap the plus icon on the upper left corner to open the widget gallery
- Search for & tap the Google app
- Swipe right/left to select the widget size
- Tap ‘Add Widget’
- Place the widget and tap ‘Done’ at the upper right corner
This is not all, you can opt to set Chrome and Gmail as your default browsers and email app on iOS 14. If you do this, any link from another app will open in Chrome and if you tap on an email icon, it will open the Gmail app.
This seamless transition of Google services on Apple devices is unique to iOS 14; at least, most of them are.
