An eBay seller named Michael Kukielka, who is also a popular tech reviewer, took to his Twitter page to criticise the platform of always siding with buyers, thus aiding fraud.
Kukielka claims that he has been a trader on the eBay platform for over fifteen years, since 2005. However, he said for this duration, he has never seen eBay rule a fraud case in favour of the seller.
He went on to relate his most recent experience of fraud on the platform. Michael Kukielka said he had sold a Samsung tablet to a buyer who then requested a return with the excuse that, “it didn’t work”.
After accepting the return request three days later, he said “a mysterious package from a tool supply company showed up in the interim.” The package had no sender’s identity but when he ignorantly accepted this ‘mysterious package’, the buyer proceeds to submit the package’s tracking number as proof of shipping back the Samsung tablet.

Kukielka adds that the package was from a completely different address and weighed less than the original item he sold. But when he presented it as a fraud case to eBay, the company still ruled in favour of the buyer.
…And eBay found in favor of the buyer anyway and refunded the money, $549+shipping, and all I have in return is this…. pic.twitter.com/SXjyHZbyoY

It led to refunding the buyer’s money and shipping fee as well, a figure that amounted to over $549. Michael Kukielka explained that there were clear indications of the case being a fraud because the buyer’s account was three days old and based outside of Ukraine.
It turned out that Kukielka is not alone as other eBay sellers complained about getting the same unfair treatment. Some even revealed that they left the platform for this exact reason.
eBay’s Twitter support quickly responded asking him to send a private message. Likely, they are working on rectifying the situation. Michael Kukielka also runs a YouTube Channel with the name DetroitBORG.
