Mixed reactions have trailed President Trump announcement that he contracted COVID-19, while some are wishing for his speedy recovery, others are posting on Twitter that they hope that he’ll die of the disease. According to Twitter, not in our yard!.
The abuse is against Twitter’s rules and the company says it plans to enforce it. Twitter will take down any tweet that expresses hope that President Trump dies from COVID-19.
The company told Motherboard that it will suspend people who hope for Trump’s death. It tweeted, “tweets that wish or hope for death, serious bodily harm or fatal disease against *anyone* are not allowed and will need to be removed. This does not automatically mean suspension”.

Facebook also added that it will remove offending content from comments on Trump’s posts, page, and content tagging him. Communications person, Liz Bourgeois tweeted, “To be clear, Facebook is removing death threats or content targeted directly at the president that wishes him death, including comments on his posts or his page – in addition to content tagging him”.

Twitter however told Motherboard that it won’t be acting on every single tweet. “We’re prioritizing the removal of content when it has a clear call to action that could potentially cause real-world harm,” it said in another tweet.
