#EndSARS: Mr Macaroni, Other Youths Spend Cold Night Outside Lagos House Of Assembly In Protest

Yesterday night, October 8th, brave and tenacious Nigerian youths led by comedian Debo Adedayo popular known as Mr Macaroni staged an all-night #EndSARS protest in Lagos.#EndSARS#EndSARS

Mr Macaroni and other Nigerian youths spent the night outside Lagos State House of Assembly gates with the cold and mosquitoes for company making their voices heard on the need to #EndSARS in Nigeria. They were also tweeting to intimate the public of happenings outside the State House of Assembly.

Musicians Runtown, Falz, Tiwa Savage, WurLD led an #EndSARS protest during the day, October 8th which kicked off at Lekki Tollgate. Mr Macaroni and other youths took over, keeping watch at night outside the terrace of the government building.

 

At some point during the night, the lights outside the state house of assembly was turned off. Their canopies which were supposed to provide shelter for the protesters were also carted away.

This was in a bid to intimidate the protesters and disperse the crowd. But they remained unshakable in their resolve.

The Lagos State speaker Modashiru Obasa would later come out to address the protesters. Shortly after, the lights came back on. But the canopies were not returned and the protesters slept under the open night sky and tarred roads.

They’ve also intimated the general public they’ll continue the protest this morning and enjoined others to join them.

“To everyone that stepped out and those that are still here, to everyone lending their voices to this cause, I hope and pray we get a better Nigeria! It’s been a long time coming!! We definitely deserve better!!,” Mr. Macaroni shared.

Nigerians have been clamouring for the end of FSARS for several years now. The police unit is notorious for kidnapping, extorting, and sometimes killing hapless citizens at the mercy.
